Book Cover

"The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Nightime"

This novel is one of my favorites of all time. Since the story is told from the view of a child, I wanted to create a cover that had a young, playful feel. In the novel, the boy bases his days on how many of which color cars he spots: green means a good day, yellow means an okay day, and red means a bad day.

Grouping Project by Sagette Van Embden

This is an image of a young girl who practices the piano while her friends get to play outside. I created this for my grouping, because I play the piano and when I was a young girl, everyone used to think that I would rather be playing outside with friends, when in fact, I was more then happy being inside with my piano and my love for music. This image was first drawn and then colored in photoshop.

I love graphic tshirts, so I wanted to create something with a highly graphic feel. I'm a huge foodie so I decided to incorporate bacon into the design and play with the wording to make a pun (a play on "rock on" but celebrating my love to cook and my love of breakfast food)

T-Shirt Design By Sagette Van Embden

For the t-shirt design assignment, I decided to create a t-shirt that could be used to sell during the 2010 South Africa Soccer world cup. My family is from South Africa, and I bought a lot of t-shirts for the world cup but none of them were really exciting. And so, I wanted to create something that was interesting, fun, and representative of Africa.

Book Cover by Sagette Van Embden

This was our first assignment for the semester and we had to create a book cover. I decided to create a cover for a book that I used to love to read as a kid. Noddy, is the main character in a series of books from London. This book in particular was about Noddy, who is the taxi driver for his home in toy land. Noddy ends up destroying the town and runs away after everyone gets upset with him. And so, I changed the story by taking Noddy and his toy car to be a taxi driver in the big apple.
