Magazine Design
A magazine spread I researched, photo researched, designed, and wrote about the Diana camera. I styled it after a travel sized version of an FHM magazine I picked up while studying abroad in Europe, so the dimensions are 9x7. I wanted to give it a gritty urban feel so I chose Synchro LET for the head and sub head and Helvetica for the body copy. The reason I chose a simple sans-serif font, such as Helvetica, for the body copy is because it is more European, just like the size of the magazine itself.

Newspaper Layout
The idea was to create a newspaper similar to the Miami New Times. I believe that newspapers with more images and illustrations are more attractive to readers than on the web. Also, The content is pretty interesting. I have written an article on the new idea of selling gourmet food on food truck. It is similar idea to the food cart idea, except experienced culinary chefs produce higher quality food for you to enjoy. Hope you like my newspaper design! =)

CD Insert Page redesign.
For this assignment I redesigned a page from System of a Down's Toxicity Album. The original page featured a collage of the members of the band. The redesign features an illustration I did of a gas mask. The reverse type was used in the original design, as well as the number of columns and the length of each paragraph. The point of this exercise was to work with small type.

This is a poster I researched, illustrated, wrote, and designed for the Helvetica font. Helvetica is a widely used font created in 1957 by Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffman in the Hass type foundry.

This is an illustration proposal for a novel, "The Kite Runner". This is a book of friendship, hope, passion and struggle. Through this image I decided to use settle colors of the desert to create a smooth sense of hope. The two friends flying a kite symbolize friendship and togetherness. No matter the struggle, friends re forever. The sunset is symbolic to time, how days pass and life moves on. These are some of the morals that the author describes in the book and I want to create that feeling through in the cover.

Rockwell Poster
I chose Rockwell which is a slab serif font. I really liked this font but at the beginning I didn't know what to do with the project, so I decided to play with two letters of the font which had important characteristics. I used black to show the impact of the font because it gives an even color, and tried to give it some life with two other colors!-Micole Alkabes

Text Poster
Okay, so this is the finish text poster project. I chose the font Bembo and I really couldn't do much with it, but whatever. This whole project gave me a massive headache. The words just couldn't fit and I had a great idea that I just couldn't translate. In the end I stuck with this...which isn't so bad, but nothing as awesome as to my original idea. The final version is the top image.

Attempt at Text Project
I really liked what I had thought of originally, but unfortunately I just couldn't translate it down onto the screen. I got some of the design in, and I really like it, but there was just no way I could make the stupid text fit. I chose to work with and old style font because I know its out of my comfort zone, but Christ! I didn't expect it to be this difficult. So I ended up scrapping this, but I like it enough to put up here.

Impact
This design was created to depict the meaning of the Impact typeface. Impact is a san-serif typeface designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965. It was mainly used as a headline font, and was also created to attract the viewer's attention (which is why it is called "impact").
